The Village Lions Rugby Football Club was founded in 1989, emerging from Greenwich Village’s Red Lion Pub, and is one of New York City’s longest-established inclusive rugby clubs. A proud member of International Gay Rugby, the club fields inclusive men’s and women’s+ sides competing in the Empire Geographic Union. The Village Lions Women’s+ team has been playing for over 25 years, welcoming players of all backgrounds and experience levels to rugby in New York City.
