For almost 20 years, the Boston Ironsides has brought together men from a tremendous range of backgrounds. We are players just out of college, seasoned rugby veterans, and men of every age who’ve just taken up the sport.
We are accountants, engineers, bartenders, designers, students, and more. We are native Bostonians and players from all over this country – and others.
We are gay, straight, and somewhere in between. Our differences make us stronger as a team, and every new member adds to that strength.
There’s a common phrase known to everyone who plays with the Ironsides: “With you.” On the pitch, it’s a verbal reminder that you’re not running alone. That there is someone by your side, ready to receive a pass or protect you if you’re tackled.
Off the pitch, it’s a way of life that has touched everyone to wear the red, white and blue kit. Whether it’s finding community in a new city, developing life-long friendships, or taking time to volunteer at the local food bank, everyone who comes to the Boston Ironsides learns what it means to be “with you” both on and off the pitch.
