International Gay Rugby (IGR) is pleased to announce the results of the 2026 IGR Trustees Election. Following a vote of the global membership, a new Board of Trustees has been elected and will take up their positions at the AGM in Brisbane. The statement below has been issued by IGR’s Elections Officers.
2026 IGR Trustees Election: results in brief
- 83 of 126 eligible clubs and societies voted, a turnout of 66%.
- 158 possible weighted votes were cast, based on Membership Type per the IGR constitution.
- All votes were validated and no ballots were discarded.
- A new Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and three Regional Trustees have been elected.
IGR Trustees Election Announcement
This mail is to formally announce the results of the 2026 IGR Trustees Election. All candidates have been notified of the results ahead of this mail. Thank you to all clubs and societies who took the time to vote and thank you to all the candidates for their time and participation in this process as we continue to standardise and document our voting processes for the future.
Voter Turnout and Validity
Out of 126 eligible voting clubs, we had 83 clubs and societies vote with 66% turnout. Those 83 club and society voters resulted in a possible 158 weighted votes based on Membership Type per our constitution. All votes have been validated and no ballots were discarded.
Results
Detailed results are attached to the mail here to show the distribution of the votes. The winners are as follows:
- Chair – Quinton LeDuc, Boston Ironsides
- Vice-Chair – Ross Barr-Hoyland, Leeds Hunters
- Treasurer – Mark Lewis, Kings Cross Steelers
- Secretary – Caitrin Williams, Cardiff Lions
- North America Regional Trustee – Jeffrey Thorpe, Atlanta Bucks
- Europe Regional Trustee – Ben Woods, Leeds Hunters
- Rest Of World Regional Trustee – Michael Smith, Melbourne Chargers
Next Steps
A warm handover of the positions will take place over the next few weeks in advance of the new board of Trustees taking their positions during the AGM in Brisbane. This period will allow for the new members of the board to shadow the current position holders in time for any transitions of ongoing activities to happen with minimal friction and no loss of activity.
